Accessories - Handbags

I am looking at getting your accessories right – this week I am looking at Bags.
·      For work, a small to medium bag looks most efficient. For a sharp boardroom look, avoid very unstructured styles.

·      If you find you have too much ‘stuff’ to carry to work in your handbag, ditch the carrier bags and invest in a smart tote bag to carry extras. Leather is a good choice for a professional look but consider how heavy it will feel when full on public transport on a rainy day. Make sure it is has plenty of room and enough pockets to carry all you need. Think about the colour – it should be neutral enough to go with all your work clothes and it should not clash with your handbag. You also need to check how good it looks when full as you don’t want a sharp image ruined by ugly bulges!
·      Don’t skimp on the cost of your handbag - it is a vital component of your professional image. An inappropriate bag can ruin a positive impression. Take your time to get it right. Choose a classic style but inject a bit of ‘you’ with the colour – get the size right – nothing smaller than a Kelly or Birkin bag. Team it with a charcoal or navy tailored suit to make it office friendly.

Dreams Really Can Come True!

I am really excited this week – my book was published. Launch day was Monday 24th April and on that day I became an Amazon number one bestselling author in the UK! It proves that dreams can come true if you take action and seek support of friends, family and a coach. Yes I do have two coaches and two mentors who help and support me. As a good coach I like to ‘walk the talk’. I know how difficult it is to achieve great things alone – procrastination is real, fear of failure and success is real, not knowing what to do next is real. So I know what you are going through and I am in a great position to support  you to achieve  your dreams.

We are just about a third of the way through the year – what do you want to have achieved by December 31st? You only have eight months left to achieve it – what are you waiting for?

So what are the important lessons I learnt from this experience?

Well, firstly, I had to say yes to an opportunity even though I didn’t really know whether I would be able to achieve it. It was certainly something I wanted to achieve, but I had no idea whether it was possible for me. So I took a risk and said ‘yes’.

Next, I realized that I couldn’t do it alone. I needed the support of a couple of coaches and mentors. They held me accountable for my actions. They were patient with me, but they expected me to follow through on the actions I said I would take. I asked for help and support from coaches and mentors – they held me accountable, which ensured I took action.

Then I had to ask for more help, this time from family, friends and colleagues.  I never would have been able to become an Amazon number one bestselling author without a lot of people buying my book! So I asked friends, family and colleagues for their help and support.

Finally I had to do the work – write the book (and edit, and edit), make the decisions, do the marketing – all the things that are out of my comfort zone, because as we all know – “Life begins outside your comfort zone”.
Yes, it was uncomfortable at times. Yes, sometimes I wanted to not bother because it was easier and safer and more comfortable to not take the risks. But I kept my goal front of mind and kept going. I believed it was possible for me.

Am I glad I did?
You bet!
Achieving a goal is a wonderful thing – especially when it means I get to celebrate with champagne!
